Hemanta Mukhopadhyay
Hemanta Kumar Mukhopadhyay(known as Hemanta Mukherjee) was an legendary singer, composer and producer. Hemanta had sung innumerable songs for both bengali and Hindi films, recorded numerous Rabindrasangeets and also lent his voice for Bengali non-film songs. His Bengali songs became very famous throughout the Bangla region in the latter half of 1950 and it was the peak time of his career.
Hemanta had worked with major artists of the music industry that includes directors like Nachiketa Ghosh, Robin Chatterjee, Salil Chowdhury and lyricist like Gouriprasanna Mazumdar. That period was termed as the Golden age of Bengali music. He himself composed music for various movies like Harano Sur, Marutirtha Hinglaj, Neel Akasher Neechey, etc. Even after his death, Gramophone Company of India releases one album of his every year thus continuing his legacy.
